I have to disagree with the Ty Cobb guess, based on Joe’s "sunnuvabitch" remark in the movie.

But I will agree that Mantle is unlikely. He was a great candidate, based on the Ott and Black Sox comparisons. Then there's the casino issue. And we know the Mick was a drinker. The men in his family didn’t live long past 40, so he had his demons. But the stories of him playing with his legs taped from "ankle to ass" underscores that he could’ve been so much better if only he’d had modern medicine and training staffs.
