One of the immortal lines from Field Of Dreams comes from Joe Jackson. It is delivered by a suddenly, very Goodfellas-sounding, Ray Liotta:
“Ty Cobb wanted to play… But none of us could stand the sunnuvabitch when we were alive — so we told him to stick it!!”
Honestly, that line planted the seed of a question that’s gnawed at me forever.
Joe claimed in the movie that so many guys wanted to come play at the field he had to “beat ‘em off with a stick.”
But a lucky few DID get invited. …
You and I aren’t the only ones who fell in love with Grogu. It’s obvious Mando himself has fallen in love with The Child.
As the relationship between Mando and Grogu continues to get richer, it gets more real. And Mandalorian fans can’t wait to find out what happens next.
But before we tune in to this week’s adventure of Mando and Grogu — audiences should first realize we’re all watching a parable. In short, the parable is about modern manhood, and first time fatherhood.
What does that mean? Well, by definition, parables are simple stories used to illustrate moral…
I didn’t even know you could rent the house from ‘Field of Dreams.’
But when my son’s baseball team entered a tournament in nearby Dubuque, Iowa, I booked it for the night.
The house sleeps eight, so I invited my Mom and Dad to stay with us too.
The house includes unlimited VIP access to ‘The Field,’ so I invited our team out for batting practice and pizza.
Ultimately, I had the surreal pleasure of walking in Ray Kinsella’s shoes for a night. It was the Covid year, I was turning 40, and I’m a lifelong White Sox fan.
I was sold on saunas by Dr. Rhonda Patrick. In 2014, she made a cameo on Tim Ferriss’ blog where she asked the question, Are Saunas the Next Big Performance-Enhancing “Drug”?
Her answer at the time was a healthy — Yes! The science was clear. As long as you didn’t mind a little sweat, the benefits of sauna could easily be yours too.
Unfortunately, during the Covid-19 pandemic, social distancing measures meant most people couldn’t reap the natural performance enhancing benefits of sauna.
As we know, public saunas were closed. This inaccessibility highlighted the scalability problem with saunas.
“There’s something with storytelling where you take the most mundane and elevate it. And if you’re taking something that’s really elevated, you bring it down to the grit of it.” — Jon Favreau Disney Gallery: Connections
When Luke Skywalker does anything, it ignites a roaring fire inside Star Wars fans in the Galaxy. But now, the same thing is true for lesser known characters like Willrow Hood!
This article looks at a counterintuitive phenomenon at the heart of Star Wars. No — not the fact that everyone on the planet literally LOVES two little green men from outer space.
SPOILER ALERT — Season Two of Disney+’s hit show The Mandalorian concludes with a tear-jerking exchange between Mando and The Child, Grogu.
Luke Skywalker had just arrived on the scene after receiving Grogu’s S.O.S. call through the Force. In short order, Luke saves the day by destroying a battalion of invincible evil robots.
This entire scene is a flurry of Jedi awesomeness.
Beyond that, it’s clear that Luke will train Grogu as a Jedi. And with that, Mando’s quest was completed. All is right in the galaxy.
Except it’s sad!
Because we suddenly realize that Mando has to say goodbye…

In the biggest speeches of Joe Biden’s political career — at the biggest moment of the speech — he has quoted one poem, The Cure At Troy.
I find this fascinating. Not in the least because it begs the following question — what can we learn, or already know, about a man if we study his favorite piece of poetry?
“Attend carefully to your posture. Quit drooping and hunching around.” — Jordan Peterson
Let’s explore the obsession that Dr. Peter Attia and Dr. Jordan Peterson don’t know they have in common. That obsession? The small muscle found between your shoulder blades called The Rhomboids.
This story investigates the following claim: Could something as simple as the rhomboid muscles be the mythical secret of success?
Admittedly, the rhomboids are not the first thing you’d guess anyone could get obsessed about — let alone two stars of podcast culture. …
MLB is bringing baseball to Iowa. What team has the greatest claim to this state?
First of all, the movie Field of Dreams solidified the special bond between the state of Iowa and the game of baseball. Over the years, the Field of Dreams movie site in Dyersville, IA has become one of the Meccas of baseball. Indeed, anyone who’s been to the field will tell you it’s a magical, surreal place.
It’s only natural that MLB would eventually play a game there. …
